Picture1PowerSole is a power generating shoe that creates electricity by converting kinetic energy into electrical energy, which can ultimately be used to charge electronic devices like phones, iPods, and LED flashlights. This is achieved through a coil of wire and a magnet that is built into the sole of the shoe. As an individual walks, a magnet moves back and forth within the coil, ultimately inducing an electric current. This electricity is then stored in a thin lightweight battery in the front of the shoe, and can be accessed by a USB port found on the side. PowerSole provides an ecofriendly and sustainable solution that we feel is extremely unique and has the potential to have an enormous impact on the lives of individuals in the developed and developing world. It also has applications in powering small biomedical devices such as insulin pumps and portable ultrasound.
